AI refund windows & how to cancel any AI tool
8 tools · Verified July 2026 by Michael Okeje
Two rules cover almost every AI subscription: you cancel from the platform you bought it on (web, Apple, or Google), and you keep access until the end of the billing period. Refunds are the hard part - windows are short, often region-specific, and most tools are non-refundable by default. The verified cheat sheet below shows exactly what each tool allows.

Frequently asked questions
Do I get a refund when I cancel an AI subscription?
Usually not automatically. Most AI tools are non-refundable by default and only refund inside a narrow window or where the law requires it (EU/UK buyers often have a 14-day right). Cancelling stops the next charge but rarely refunds the current period, and you must request a refund separately - cancelling alone does not trigger one.
Why am I still being charged after I cancelled?
The most common cause is cancelling on the wrong platform. If you subscribed inside an iPhone or Android app, the charge is billed by Apple or Google, and you must cancel in the App Store or Play Store - not in the tool's own settings, and not by deleting the app or your account.
Do I lose access immediately when I cancel?
No, in almost every case you keep the paid features until the end of your current billing period, then drop to the free tier. So there is no benefit to cancelling early beyond making sure you are not charged again.
Who refunds an in-app AI purchase, the tool or the app store?
The app store. Purchases made through Apple's App Store are refunded by Apple (reportaproblem.apple.com), and Google Play purchases through Google. The AI company cannot refund a charge it never collected.
Refund and cancellation terms are checked against each tool's official help pages on the date shown and change often - always confirm the current policy before relying on it. This page is guidance, not legal advice.
